(Vegan AF) — White Castle has announced plans to add vegan cheddar cheese to its menu. In doing so, they will become the first fast-food burger chain in the United States to provide a plant-based, dairy-free cheddar cheese to consumers.
White Castle stated that they will first launch the vegan cheddar to their restaurants in New Jersey and New York City on March 1st. They have plans to roll it out to other locations in the future. GoodPlanet Foods is the company that will be making this vegan cheddar for White Castle.
This non-dairy cheese will perfectly compliment their Impossible™ Slider. After testing it out for a several months, White Castle made their Impossible™ Slider a permanent part of their menu in September 2018.
"Our Impossible Slider was an instant Craver favorite, but it's about to get a new dimension with the introduction of dairy-free cheddar," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle. "We are excited to bring this new non-dairy, vegan item to Cravers in the New York and New Jersey areas with the hope of taking it to other markets in the future."
"We're committed to innovation, and we're always looking for ways to do things better and make things better for our loyal customers," Richardson said. "It's exciting to be the fast-food restaurant that's leading the trend in providing plant-based options for consumers."
